I liked how the coulds separated the high mountain part (4000+meters high) from the rest of the moutain (:

Massif du Mont Blanc, french Alps. The Drus hiding the Aiguille Verte.

Tell me is this photo straight out of the camera or was it edited with a software cause I'm trying to get picks such as this one with my new Nikon D3000 and failing miserably.

It was edited on Lightroom3 (:
The only things I edited though were the local contrast and I added some saturation in the blue and the green.
What exactly would you like to achieve that you can't?

The contrast between objects. Those stronger shades that separate objects.

Maybe I just can't do it with free sofware. Maybe it's because most of the time I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to those things. Maybe my lack of experience.

Anyway whenever I need some help I look for tutorials or ask a professional like you!(i try not to bother to much if possible)

I tried Lightroom once but it wasn't compatible with my olympus. Never knew why. I tried every format available and it still wouldn't import a darn thing.

Do you recommend I try Lightroom again? Will it work with a Nikon D3000?

Oh that's weird indeed, I thought Lightroom works with any camera... I'm pretty sure it'll work with your Nikon since it works with my D90. Maybe you can try the trial version before if you want? And I don't know if it's the same in every country, but in france there's a student/education sale for lightroom: I bought it something like 80euros instead of 300euros! And it seems (on their website) that there's a discount (50%) for everybody who buy Lightroom3 before March the 2nd.
It's been anly a few months since I have this software so I'm still experimenting with it and have a looooooot to learn about it, but I think it's a pretty good one and that's the one that every professionnal photographers recomended to me.
